No Gi BJJ

BJJ is one of the best forms of self-defense for women because BJJ

manuevers rely on leverage and weight distibution rather than a

person's size and strength. BJJ teaches students to take their

opponent to the ground where chokeholds and joint locks can be

 employed to subdue an attacker.

 A person who has

 earned their BJJ black

 belt is referred to as

 "Professor" by others

 within the sport.

 Instructors who are not

 yet black belts are

 referred to as "Coach."

 Brazillian Jiu Jitsu

 (BJJ) was developed in Rio

 De Janiero in the 1920's.

The martial art combines

 Japanese judo and ground

 wrestling. It is practiced

 worldwide.

 The BJJ journey consists of

 five milestones symbolized

 by belt color: white, blue,

 purple, brown and black. A

 dedicated practitioner might

take 10 years to earn their

 black belt.

 The term 'randori' is a

 Japanese word referring to

 live BJJ training. Randoris

 provide students the

 opportunity to practice the skills

they've been drilling in a faster-

 paced, improvisational setting.
